Day Services
MHDS, Inc. provides Day Services at each of its three locations in Jackson, Bolivar, and Brownsville. The Day sites offer a variety of services including Facility Based Day, Community Based Day, and Supported Employment.
Through the Facility Based Day Services, the Service Recipients are offered opportunities to work on job assembly tasks that are secured from local industry. Job opportunities in the Day sites range from very simple assembly projects to complex jobs requiring the use of machinery. Service recipients are assigned tasks based on their abilities. MHDS, Inc. has a special labor certificate with the Department of Labor that allows the Service Recipients to be paid for their work on a piece rate basis.
Facility Based Day services may also include other daily living learning opportunities that assist the Service Recipient in reaching their maximum level of independence.
Through Community Based Day Services, Service Recipients have opportunities to explore their community for the purpose of learning or maintaining life skills.
Supported Employment offers Service Recipients the opportunity to work in an integrated community work setting. Service Recipients who wish to work in a community setting are assisted in determining what type of jobs they want to do, and how much staff support will be required for successful placement.
All Service Recipients receiving any component of Day Services will have an Individual Support Plan developed that addresses the Service Recipients goals and needed staff supports.
