Severe Weather/Tornado
During any potential severe weather, the agency will monitor the weather closely. During severe weather, staff will implement severe weather policies. If conditions are such that the School Systems determine to close early, the Executive Director will make the decision on whether to close the Day Sites early as well. In the event that the Day Sites run transportation early, families will be notified by phone that their Service Recipient will be arriving home or need to be picked up earlier than regularly scheduled.
In the event that the School Systems are closed following severe weather, MHDS, Inc. will follow the same procedure as the Snow/Ice Procedure and will not run Transportation, but will open the Day Sites for drop off and pick up, unless conditions are serious enough to warrant a full closing.
Closings when School Systems are not in session
There are times when inclement weather occurs and the School Systems are not in session. In the event that inclement weather occurs during times when Schools are not in session, information regarding closings will be provided to WBBJ-Jackson, WMCT-Memphis, and will be posted the website.
