Faye’s Work and Work Ethic Are Appreciated

Faye has been working most of her adult life.  As long as it existed, she was a reliable producer in our workshop.  When it closed, everyone knew that finding Faye a job that she could consistently be successful was important to her overall happiness and sense of purpose.

When an opportunity presented in maintenance with Hardeman County Community Health Center (HCCHC), MHDS Supported Employment Manager, Joe Hudson, immediately saw the fit.  “They needed someone thorough and dependable and Faye was my first instinct.”   Joe began a dialogue with HCCHC’s Programs & Facility Director, Robert Davis, Jr. to determine a plan to put Faye in the position.  Robert is an enthusiastic fan of MHDS’s Supported Employment Program and said “I encourage other local businesses to consider making positions available.  I’d be glad to talk to anyone considering giving someone an opportunity about our experience.”

Given HCCHC provides comprehensive medical services, cleanliness and sanitation are critical.  Faye is responsible for vacuuming common areas, keeping windows and glass clean, and ensuring the soap and paper towel dispensers are replenished.  Her direct Supervisor, Udell Futrell, remarked “Faye is a great asset to us.  She understands her assigned tasks and completes them very well.”  James McNeal, her Job Coach, shares “Faye is always ready when I arrive to pick her up.  She loves her job.”

When asked about her job, Faye expressed “I enjoy everything about working here.  Everyone is so nice.”  Regarding what she does with the money she earns, she said “I’m saving for a vacation.  I’d like to go to the beach.”

We think with her hard work and determination, Faye will realize that vacation very soon.  Marlita White, CEO of HCCHC, remarked “We are pleased to have Faye here.  She has been a great help to the facility.”   We are very thankful that Faye has found an excellent fit with a caring organization to fulfill her desire to be employed.
