Jasmine accompanied her mother to her hair stylist for years. As she grew older, Jasmine began to impulsively empty trash and clean while her mom was being styled. This did not go unnoticed by Hair Expressions owner, Camille Shavon. Camille and Jasmine’s mom discussed that Jasmine’s work at MHDS’s workshop was ending and that she needed an outlet for her desire to work. Camille knew the person who had been doing maintenance in her shop was leaving and a plan was developed.
Jasmine has been working on Mondays for about 6 months and does a very thorough job of getting the shop clean. Her responsibilities include trash removal, sweeping, straightening the waiting area and other tasks as needed. “I enjoy cleaning. It makes me happy to know I’ve done a good job.” shares Jasmine. “I like extra money to go out to eat too.”
When thanked for giving Jasmine an opportunity to work, Camille stated “It wasn’t hard to open my mind & heart to her. I have been fortunate to be in business for 29 years. I get blessed by being a blessing to someone else.”
